VO Technology Centre : UK

This is a holding page for a new project aimed to start during 2009. VOTC:UK aims at providing astronomical data management, access, and analysis infrastructure for astronomical facilities, missions, and data centres. It will be part of the Europe wide Virtual Observatory Technology Centre (VOTC), as part of the Euro-VO initiative, along with the VO Facility Centre (VOFC) and the Data Centre Alliance (DCA).

VOTC:UK will build on software and services developed by two projects. The first of these is AstroGrid, a UK e-science project which as well as developing software, is currently running a working system for astronomers. The second is VOTECH, a European project which has been developing new infrastructure and tools prototypes. The VOTC will deploy the AstroGrid infrastructure, finalise and deploy the VOTECH prototypes, and develop new technology based on facility and mission requirements.
